Summer intern applications are now closed.

This summer, you could flip burgers. You could shovel poo. Or you could get a great internship in advertising. As a Bozell intern, you won’t get the creative director coffee. You won’t pick up the account director’s dry cleaning. And you won’t shine the president’s shoes. You won’t have time. You’ll be too busy working on actual projects for actual clients. You’ll be building your résumé and portfolio. You’ll be beginning your fledgling career.

The internship starts May 17 and ends August 6. You’ll earn $8.50 an hour and work full-time from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday. Expect some weekend work, too. This is advertising.

During the first week, you’ll meet your fellow interns and spend quality time with our department heads. After that, it’s nothing but work. And the occasional game of Guitar Hero.

Candidates must be Junior standing or above. Applications must be postmarked by March 1. The top candidates in each department will be invited to interview later in the month. We’ll make final decisions and notifications by April 16.

Account Service »

Do everything from analyzing business situations for client recommendations to formulating campaign strategies. It helps if you have a basic understanding of agency structure. And make sure to bring your excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.

Art Director / Designer »

Work closely with other creatives to develop, present and produce concepts or designs. InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator skills are a must. And if you’re not full of passion for the industry, you might want to consider finding a job at the mall for the summer.

Copywriter »

Concept and produce campaigns for your portfolio alongside other creatives, while undoubtedly drinking copious amounts of coffee. You should be a strong conceptual thinker, a persuasive writer and a student of advertising — not just an advertising student.

Interactive »

Build dynamic Web sites and applications while working closely with the design and development teams. Musts: Fundamental understanding of web design and site architecture, knowledge of XHTML & CSS required, ability to hand-code without a WYSIWYG, interest in W3C standards, and experience with any of the following: PHP, ASP.NET, MySQL, SQL SERVER, content management systems, SEO and JavaScript. Bonus if you have an understanding of online advertising & marketing.

Media »

Looking for someone who can see the big picture and is interested in new media (online, mobile, social) as well as traditional media (radio, TV, print, OOH). Must have strong communication skills and be self motivated. Someone that is socially tech savvy (Twitter, Facebook, blogs, mobile) and stays on top of new emerging trends and social behaviors.

Social Media »

Are you the next visionary-in-the-making who knows the ins and outs of blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, RSS, wikis, widgets, podcasting…? No one knows them all. But you should be able to plan strategically with the ones you do and willing to research the ones you don't.

Public Relations »

Develop public relations plans, write news releases and generate publicity for clients and the agency. You’ll also work interdepartmentally with account service, creative, interactive and social media to develop full marketing campaigns. Strong communication, writing and research skills are required. You’ll need strategic and analytical thinking, too.
